Die britische Polizei nahm am [..] Mittwoch einen 19-jährigen mutmaßlichen LulzSec- und Anonymous-Hacktivisten fest. Der Teenager soll als Sprecher für beide Gruppen aufgetreten sein. LulzSec bekannte sich zu zahlreichen Cyber-Angriffen.

Bin gespannt was die LulzSec dazu meint. Gezwitschert wurde bisher nichts.

Paypal fordert deutsche Onlineshops ultimativ auf, Waren aus Kuba aus dem Programm zu nehmen. Andernfalls werde gesperrt, droht das Unternehmen. Ebay setzt damit das US-Embargo aus dem Jahr 1962 gegen das kleine Nachbarland durch.

In dem Kompetenzzentrum sollen Fachabteilungen wie die Zentrale Internetrecherche, die Auswertestelle für Kinderpornografie und die Computerforensik gebündelt werden. Dazu kommen Experten für die Überwachung, Auswertung und Analyse der Telekommunikation. Für besondere Verfahren können Ermittlungskommissionen gebildet werden.

Researchers Fergal Reid (@Fergal_Reid) and Martin Harrigan (@Harrigan) at University College Dublin have written a paper describing how considerable portions of the Bitcoin network can be de-anonymized.  They wrote a blog post to describe their analysis and findings:

We have chosen a case study involving a user who has many reasons to stay anonymous. He is the alleged thief of 25,000 Bitcoins.

We observe that the thief sent 0.31337 BTC to LulzSec shortly after the theft but we cannot otherwise associate him with the group. 

We can use tools from network analysis to visualize egocentric networks and to follow the flow of Bitcoins. This can help us identify several centralized services that may have even more details about interesting users.

One of the comments asks for the identity of the the theif, but one of the researchers (Fergei) responded “We don’t set out to to de-anonymise the thief - we are researchers, not law enforcement”.

It is left unsaid if that means that should law enforcement perform the analysis that these researchers performed that the perpetrator would today be known, nor if the resulting information would be enough to pursue a case that might lead to a conviction.
